Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 is now available for download

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a Linux distribution developed by Red Hat and aimed at the commercial market.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 is now available for download
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is released on server editions for x86, x86_64, Itanium, PowerPC and IBM System z architectures and desktop editions for x86 and x86_64 processors.
All of Red Hat's official support and training and the Red Hat Certification Program are centered around the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform.

Red Hat uses strict brand rules to restrict free redistribution of its officially supported versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, but still freely provides its source code. Third-party derivatives can be built and redistributed by removing non-free components.

What's New in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 is the latest version of the legacy branch of the distribution, which was originally released in November 2010 and will be backed with security updates by the end of 2020.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 supports new hardware developed in collaboration with Red Hat partners, which helps provide a smooth transition from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 production deployments to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 environments.
In addition, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 adds updates to TLS 1.2 to further enhance secure communications and more broadly support the latest PCI-DSS standards.
The launch announcement also contains a note about the next change in product support status: "Note that Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 enters Production Phase 3 on May 10, 2017, which means that subsequent updates to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 will be limited to qualifications, critical security fixes and urgent issues that affect the business. "
