Raspberry Pi project announced fee Zero W with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

On the day of the fifth anniversary of the project organization Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced the immediate availability of the new board Raspberry Pi Zero W, combining compact dimensions and the availability of support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The cost of the new model is $ 10, which is two times more expensive than last Raspberry Pi Zero models.

Model Zero W performed in the same form factor as the earlier supplied Raspberry Pi Zero (65 x 30 x 5 mm), ie about half the size of conventional Raspberry Pi. The key difference is the integration of Cypress CYW43438 chip, providing support for 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.1.

The rest of the parameters Zero W are similar to the previous compact version - CPU 1GHz (Broadcom BCM2835, a single ARM11 core graphics accelerator Broadcom VideoCore IV 250 MHz), 512MB RAM, Mini-HDMI port, two ports, Micro-USB, microSD card slot, 40-pin GPIO connector (not soldered) terminals for the composite video and camera.

From previously issued to the competing devices Raspberry Pi Zero W closest Chinese board Orange Pi Zero, which comes in 7 and 9 dollars to 256 and 512 MB of RAM. Fee Orange Pi Zero does not support Bluetooth and output to connect the camera, but has a full-port 10 / 100M Ethernet with optional PoE (Power over Ethernet), USB OTG, USB 2.0 HOST, as well as contacts for connecting a microphone, an infrared receiver (IR) and two additional USB-ports.

Instead of single-core Broadcom BCM2835 motherboard is equipped with quad-core 32-bit processor Allwinner H2 (Cortex-A7, 1.2 GHz) and the GPU Mali 400MP2 a decoder for H.265 / HEVC 1080P. Instead, 40-pin GPIO comes a shortened 26-pin connector that is compatible with the Raspberry Pi B
